Liposuction is a surgical procedure used to slim the body and improve contours by removing excess fat deposits. By using simple techniques, liposuction can improve body shape by targeting the fat in areas that are difficult to target with diet and exercise. Liposuction will remove fat cells and prevent them from growing back. The amount of fat removed during liposuction depends on the patient’s specific goals. The focus will be on removing the right amount of fat to contour the body, rather than just removing as much fat as possible.
Dr. Wayment inserts a tube called a “cannula” into a small incision in approximation to the area being contoured. The cannula will remove the unwanted fatty tissue. After the desired results are achieved, the tiny incisions are sutured shut. The length of the surgery varies depending on the amount of tissue that needs to be removed.
Following surgery, a compression garment will be applied and should be worn for six weeks. This compression garment will keep the skin stable and reduces swelling. Sutures are removed within seven to ten days. Activities should be modified for six weeks. Contact the offices today to learn more about the liposuction procedure
